OUR VENUE

On our first vacation together, we stumbled across this cafe we loved in Roberts Creek called the Gumboot. We’ve been back many times alone, and with friends, and it’s become one of our favourite spots. So it’s fitting that our wedding venue is right behind the restaurant.

One Tiny Farm was created by One Straw Society, a charity devoted to food security and building a thriving and resilient local food system. The farm is a cherished community space. By attending our wedding, you are not only helping us celebrate, but also supporting the Sunshine Coast community.

One Tiny Farm

We hope you enjoy it as much as we have.

Our Recommendations

We’ve spent a lot of time on the Sunshine Coast throughout our relationship and this part of the world has become really important to us. Go explore some of our favourite spots and see why we love it so much.

Restaurants & Bars

The Gumboot

Obviously one of our favs! There’s a café with baked goods or a proper restaurant next door, so you can choose which you’d prefer. It’s about a 10-minute drive from the hotel.

Persephone Brewing

It’s a bit of a hike from the hotel, about a 30-minute drive, but it’s very close to the ferry if you’d like to stop on your way in or off the coast. It’s a beautiful little farm where you can get a beer and they have a changing menu that’s pretty great. Eric also designed their packaging.

The Wobbly Canoe

This restaurant is right next to the hotel, but it just happens to be another one of our favourites. Great beer list and food. And their mac and cheese is Maddy-approved.

Sunday Cider

Similar to Persephone, this is a really nice little farm. It’s about 15 minutes from the hotel. There’s sometimes a food truck here, but maybe call ahead on the day of and find out if they’re serving food. Great cider and great vibe though.

Smitty’s

Great seafood place in Gibsons. Pretty far from the hotel but very close to the ferry – this would be a good option after your ferry gets in if you need a lunch or dinner on the Friday. Make a reservation as it gets busy! If you can’t get in, Lunitas is right next door and also great Mexican Food.

Places to Explore

Smugglers Cove

One of our favourite hikes in the whole world. Less like hike – more like walk. Starts with a little boardwalk through a wetland then opens up to the cove and eventually the ocean. Lots to explore on this hike so leave yourself a couple hours!

Skookumchuck Narrows

This might be ambitious to do before the wedding, but if you have a bit more time on the coast before you leave we’d recommend this hike. Look up the tides before hand so you arrive a little before the peak and you can see kayakers and surfers playing in the rapids at the end.

And don’t forget to get a cinnamon bun on your way out at the Skookumchuck Bakery!

Ruby Lake

One of the best lakes that exists. Seriously. Rent a kayak or a rowboat from the resort across the street and maybe go for a swim and a picnic lunch.
